September 21 – December 10 | Johannesburg, South Africa
You’ve felt it before. That quiet pull during worship. That moment when someone shares their missions story and something in you rises up. That inexplicable ache for people you’ve never met, in places you’ve never been. That’s not coincidence. That’s a calling. And this September, you have the chance to answer it.
What Is Harvest School of Missions?
Harvest School is a full-time, three-month missions training school based in Johannesburg, South Africa — one of Africa’s most dynamic, challenging, and spiritually significant cities. It’s run by Iris Johannesburg, a grassroots ministry family committed to raising up real missionaries who don’t just know about the Great Commission — but actually live it. This isn’t a conference. It’s not a short-term trip. This is an immersive, Spirit-led season of formation where you study, worship, pray, and step out into one of the world’s most diverse mission fields — every single day. If you’re searching for a missions school, a discipleship training school, or a gap year with purpose, this is it.
Why Johannesburg?
Johannesburg is called the City of Gold — but for thousands within its borders, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Immigrants, the unemployed, families living in squatter camps, people caught in cycles of poverty and hopelessness — they’re here. And as a Harvest School student, you won’t observe them from a comfortable distance. You’ll walk into their world, stop for the one, and bring the one thing no aid program ever could: the love of Jesus, demonstrated. Not just preached. Shown. Through your hands, your prayers, and the way you see people when no one else does.
What to Expect
Over 12 weeks, you’ll be immersed in:
- Classroom teaching rooted in Scripture, missions theology, and the heart of God
- Daily outreaches into Johannesburg’s most underserved communities
- Worship and intercession as a lifestyle, not just a schedule
- Discipleship and mentorship from a ministry family that has been on the ground for years
- Overnight outreaches across Johannesburg and surrounding areas
- Guest speakers from across the global missions community And you won’t do it alone. At Iris Johannesburg, you become family — known, seen, and deeply invested in.
Who Is This For?
Harvest School is for you if:
- You feel called to missions but don’t know where to start
- You’re looking for a gap year missions program before university or your next career step
- You want to grow in your faith through real-world obedience
- You’re ready to be trained not just as a goer, but as a disciple-maker
- You want more than knowledge — you want transformation Whether you’re drawn to cross-cultural missions or urban ministry, this school will equip and send you.
